The East Hull Community Planning Project

The East Hull Community Planning Project was a scheme which aimed to help engage residents in the regeneration of Ings and Preston Road.

Funded by the Housing Corporation, Gateway and Chevin Housing Association, the project was designed to equip local people with the skills they need to help create a sustainable future for their community. This included assisting residents to gain the skills and knowledge the needed to play an active role in the regeneration of their community and providing access to new training and employment opportunities.

Projects included:

  • Drive Ings - this allowed young people on the Ings estate to benefit from free driving lessons in a bid to encourage them into employment
  • Ings/Preston Road hotshots - this programme saw local people learning more about the design and planning process that goes into a site
  • Ings lunch club - a programme aimed at bringing the community together
  • New beginnings - a book telling the story of the Ings estate
  • Preston Road DIY project - teaching residents basic DIY skills to help them in their home
