Developments brought forward by Gateway in the future will adhere to a new set of sustainability principles. Covering the development of mixed communities, affordable housing, quality design and environmental sustainability, the aim will be to establish a significantly improved quality of residential development across the city.

Affordable Housing

Designs on the future
Gateway is working with experts and communities to improve the standard of design in residential developments across the city.
Working with Arc, the Humber Centre of Excellence for the Built Environment, Gateway supports the Humber Design Review Panel, which offers independent design advice on new developments from an expert panel of architects, urban designers, landscape architects and planners. Through Arc, we have also commissioned citywide residential neighbourhood Design Guidance, which will be adopted by Hull City Council as a Supplementary Planning Document, ensuring the high standards set by Gateway for sustainability and adaptability are replicated across the city.
Arc is also working with us on our Community Design Champions| programme, which aims to improve the knowledge and confidence of local people on design matters. Around 20 local residents have taken part in the programme to date, with many more set to participate in the future.
