LOCAL COMPANIES INVITED TO TENDER FOR MULTI-MILLION POUND DEVELOPMENT
Neighbourhood regeneration agency Gateway and its development partner Keepmoat Homes in partnership with Construction Works are inviting local companies to tender for work on the £400m redevelopment of Newington and St Andrew's in west Hull.
As part of Gateway's on-going commitment to the use of local companies and labour, regional contractors in a variety of construction trades are invited to submit tenders for the massive redevelopment work, which will be taking place over the next five years.
In a combined effort to support local companies, Construction Works is hosting an event on Wednesday, March 10 at The Village Hotel on Priory Park between 4-6pm, which will explain the processes involved in making a bid successful.
It is hoped companies and contractors in the local area will attend the event, which will start with presentations from Construction Works, Keepmoat and Gateway at 4pm. There will also be information designed to assist everyone from sole contractors to large companies on how to proceed.
Rachael Fairburn, supply chain co-ordinator at Construction Works, said: "The event is designed to make sure the work on this very important programme is kept as local as possible and is part of an on-going commitment to the local workforce.
"Information and support for all those interested in tendering will ensure local companies can be successful and can be involved in the transformation of their city."
Pauline Davis, Strategic Director for Gateway said: "Gateway is committed to the use of local labour on our developments are we are very keen to engage with companies from across the city at this event. It offers local firms, both big and small to express an interest and tender for work."
Rick Long, Construction Director with Keepmoat Homes, added: "Regenerating an area is not just about bricks and mortar. Keepmoat Homes and its partners are keen to provide local job and training opportunities as part of the regeneration process. This event will benefit local companies looking to make a successful bid for this multi million project."
Cllr Rick Welton, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration at Hull City Council said: "I am pleased to see local companies being offered the chance to work on the city's regeneration. It is vital that we support the local economy and this is just one way in which we are working to achieve this."
