Residents' Charter
Every stage of Gateway's programme, from re-development of an area to building new homes is guided by these commitments:
- Every effort will be made to enable residents to stay in their community if that is what they want.
- A package of financial help will be available to all residents required to move as part of the redevelopment work.
- Residents required to move will be offered a range of housing choices.
- All new housing will be of a good standard.
- All residents required to move will receive priority for any available council housing.
- We will try to ensure that no-one has to move twice.
- Plans for the redevelopment of the area will be made public and residents' views taken into account.
- Once the plans are finalised, individual residents will be informed personally about changes that will directly affect them. This will include information and personal support about the choices and help available to them.
- We will keep residents informed about the plans and their progress from the outset and at all stages of development. Easy ways for residents to raise questions will be provided.
- We will work with developers to ensure that, wherever possible, local people are employed in building work and that training and employment schemes for local people are supported.
- We will aim to ensure that noise, debris and dust is kept to a minimum and that all work is carried out safely.
